ANADESA: it's children's day in Guatemala!

On October 1st, Guatemala celebrates Children's Day at a national level. It is one of the festivities that symbolizes the importance of childhood. It is a day in which each child enjoys his or her moment with friends, classmates and family.

The contagious smile of children teaches us to enjoy the little things. Despite the situations they face, children always find a reason to smile and play. They are the heroes of their own dreams and are a fundamental part of society, overcoming their daily struggle through their enthusiasm.

In our context there are children who from an early age already generate income from home to meet their basic needs. This makes us reflect, since many children go through situations that limit them from enjoying their childhood. These children do  not have the opportunity to attend school, access to health services, decent housing, healthy food, etc. These situations affect their development and personal formation.

Therefore, on this date the importance of children's rights and obligations is emphasized. Given these situations, it is necessary to promote them to be autonomous and empowered children, to encourage them to dream, to have goals and a life objective. Happy Children's Achievers Day!
