Pueblo a Pueblo: Heidy really appreciates your support!

Heidy is 18 and lives with her grandparents, her parents, and her brother and sister. Her Pueblo a Pueblo scholarship allows her to study digitally-based accounting at a technical high school. This specialty is still relatively new, since in many places in and around Santiago, bookeeping is still done in accounting books with hand-written notations.

Her first dream was to become a nurse but it was too expensive so she chose accounting and says she's learned to enjoy numbers and spreadsheets.

Her dream is to work at a hospital as a way to unite her original dream of becoming a nurse with her knowledge of accounting. She's been in the scholarship program for eight years; since the third grade.

Heidy is grateful for her long-term relationship with both Pueblo a Pueblo and her sponsor. She says that the most important lesson she learned last year through the PaP workshops was the importance of making good decisons and to be responsible for ther actions.

She is shy and says she rarely speaks with people outside her family, but she loves spending time with her family, especially her grandparents. Heidy helps her mother create beautiful beaded products for sale in the local tourist market.

One time her brother was very sick and didn't want to continue studying. With the encouragement of the whole family, he was convinced to return to school when he got better. That made Heidy especially happy because she understands the importance of education.
