Traveling Library: The magic of stories

Since the beginning of the pandemic, schools took a different course from the ordinary.

Teachers turned to virtual tools to reach home teaching.

Later, there was a change: joy returned in the classrooms and the children cautiously enjoyed the classes.

Before going to teach, I would start with a meditation and think about the day's activities. Then I was very moved by the sound of the birds while I got all my things ready.

My ukulele was my friend: I knew that together we could create many emotions in the hearts of children. Walking through the town to get to the school, I could appreciate the reflection of the rising sun on the volcanoes and the lake. That gave me the certainty that a wonderful day was beginning.

I started the year with great enthusiasm: books were the strength to transmit the best joy and learning to children. With the Mobile Library, my first impression was seeing the children sitting in different parts of the room.

Their eyes were full of enthusiasm, with the vibe of joy and curiosity. I saw that each face was covered by the mask, but in each voice there was joy and in each mind there was much imagination.

When we began to share each of the stories is when we could feel the atmosphere change: each of the children had a different connection with the stories.

When they changed the class modality to virtual, the challenges started again. Every day was a different experience: I thought that the dynamics had to be different every day to have fun classes.

For me it was a surprise to see how each story impacted through a screen. I saw the imagination and curiosity of the  children begin to flow again.

This comforted me: it gave me the opportunity to have a dose of joy and fun each day.

I am very grateful to have such a wonderful experience. Each of the activities, each book, each story and each of the children's connections: everything motivates me to continue improving as a teacher.

The joy and laughter of the children is the song that enlivens each class in the classroom.
