ANADESA: Maria says goodbye to the vice-presidency
My name is Maria Ramirez, I am a mother of 3 children and I am part of the ANADESA association. I also participated in one of the Women's projects implemented by the association, which helped me to strengthen my knowledge and skills.
I used to be a quiet woman and I was afraid to speak out anywhere, even in my home. In the project I learned about my rights and my capabilities as an indigenous woman. It is true that there are many barriers to women's participation but the limit is set by us.
These days I feel fortunate and satisfied for having completed my term as vice-president of the Association, but I was also elected to form the new board of directors as treasurer, so I will not give up my leadership, I will continue to exercise it wherever I go, because as a woman I have my own ideas and I can make decisions.
I thank ANADESA and all the people who helped me to exercise my leadership skills, to acquire knowledge and for correcting any mistakes. I don't know how far I still have to go, but what I do know is that every step I take contributes to the development of my community through ANADESA.
