Natik: Something added to the tried and trueED JANUARY 2021

Greetings! Wishing you and your family the best in 2022!

Natik is entering the final year of a 5-year strategic plan, and our gears are beginning to shift in some interesting ways.

In November and December, two of our professional advisors applied team and partner qualitative evaluations.  The results and recommendations from both have helped us begin to reimagine the who-how-what-where-when of our daily existence.

Interviews with board members will begin next week. To round out our evaluation process, soon we’ll be sending you a survey with a few basic questions and an opportunity to share on any subject you wish.  We look forward to hearing from you!

We’ve always prioritized our partners’ needs over the convenience of simple messaging, but clear messaging is always important and a high priority.

Even though we all share the goal of sharing interesting stories with you, sometimes it’s tough for partner leadership to imagine what might be interesting for international donors and supporters.

Imagine for a moment that your income depended on you being able to tell stories about yourself that illustrate how impactful your life work is. What would you say?  How would you say it?

To help our partners be able to do that, we began an experiment in November. We matched each partner with a volunteer who is a native Spanish speaker but isn't from the communities where our partners work.

The partners and volunteers meet monthly to talk about what subjects they feel would be interesting for readers outside their organizations and communities.  Through a relaxed and friendly exchange, the volunteers help our partners tease out interesting stories for their monthly bulletins, and help with the composition and editing of the final text.  The guiding principles for the bulletin messages: Simple, Sincere, and Singular.

The time it takes to compose the monthly bulletins must be integrated into the many challenges and responsibilities of running programs that benefit their communities.

As part of our on-going evaluation process, we’re interested in your thoughts about how we communicate with you. If you hit respond to this email or the bulletins, your comments will automatically come to my email, and I will translate and forward your messages if needed.

If you prefer to communicate directly with one of the partners, from now on there will be an email included at the bottom of the bulletins. If you choose that option please write in Spanish.

All for now. See you again in February!

As always--- Thanks for being there.

Anita
