Pueblo a Pueblo (PaP): Supporting our students in hybrid learning

Written by Ana, Director of Pueblo a Pueblo.

Supporting Students and their families.

Students all over the world have experienced a multitude of difficult challenges when it comes to schooling.

As this school year begins for students in Santiago Atitlán, the classes continue to be the hybrid mode of learning, shifting from in-person to remote learning.

This is all part of the  safety protocols issued by the Guatemalan government.

This shift to remote learning was especially challenging in the rural communities that Pueblo a Pueblo serves because of a lack of technology and internet access.

Families are still ill equipped to support their students during remote learning, and without the constant presence of teachers, students sometimes had nowhere to turn with questions.

This partnered with the economic and emotional turmoil of the still uncertain times has been very hard on beneficiary families.

These past years have undoubtedly been one of the most challenging for our students and their families, but with the help of our donor community, we have been able to provide vital support.

Throughout the pandemic, Pueblo a Pueblo has delivered  hygiene kits, school supplies, and even emergency food baskets to vulnerable families.

As we continue to work through the persisting challenges related to COVID-19, we remain steadfast in our mission to empower students to learn and grow up to become change makers in their communities.

We are looking forward to supporting our students throughout this next phase of hybrid learning, and we are also extremely grateful for your help in helping us make that a possibility!
