Traveling Library: A book also needs retirement

Our books are loved by many, and we need more!

We're excited to announce that on June 9th our fundraiser begins.  Our goal is to raise $5,000 so we can buy more books and continue offering training sessions to local educators. 

You love to read. You also know that know that loving to read requires books. 

Many of older books need to be replaced since they've been loved by so many children that they need to be retired from circulation--- for all of the obvious reasons! 😊

There is also a long list of authors and topics on our wish list for every reading level. 

Looking beyond the books, it's important to remember that critical thinking in the classroom requires trained educators.

The Puerta Abierta has modeled creative teaching techniques for over a decade and out of that experience, we've developed and delivered training programs to educators in the Lake Atitlán region of Guatemala. 

During the 10 days of the campaign, we'll share short videos of different staff members and beneficiaries of our programs talking about their lives and their work in the community.

Our staff has interesting stories to tell, and we want to make sure to make it easy for you to click onto our facebook or instagram accounts to see the videos, and hopefully be inspired to donate!
