Traveling Library: Reading under the trees
TRAVELING BOOKS
We travel to where we can connect, imagine and create together.
“Traveling books” reaches out to communities each year to serve children, youth, grandmothers and families.Through books we connect with the communities while exploring multiple subjects that foster leadership, critical thinking, empathy, inclusion and literacy. And so we kick off our Libros Viajeros 2022 campaign that will enable us to maintain our connection with communities through books and creativity.
Reading under the tree
"Every time I read under the tree or in nature with my children, I feel the tranquility and we get to connect with nature, imagination and books. Reading under the tree gives you creative and positive energy. Children enjoy reading in nature and I know how meaningful it is for everyone to have access to books and stories to share under the tree. There I feel free to imagine, have a say and create. Reading under nature is a gift!" -Febe Reanda
Every time we hear teachers and children express how wonderful it is for them to have access to books and stories, and to enjoy it in their own spaces, it motivates us to continue promoting story hours and reading circles. These are two initiatives with different groups and communities that make up the municipality of Santiago Atitlán.
Every year the Puerta Abierta Library and its community program Biblioteca Móvil carry out different campaigns and celebrations towards books. This enables us to grow our reading community and our book baskets. Thus, all children, adolescents and families can enjoy their books and readings from their own spaces.
Reading under the tree is a space full of opportunities, where children promote their love for books and enjoy their story time. This is a great satisfaction that rejoices with our friends who trust every day in our actions and in our passion for bringing books to different corners of Guatemala.
When you support the Puerta Abierta Library, you make reading reach more people in the community, for example, the initiative of the Traveling Books...
