Traveling Library: We are excited to begin!

I end the year feeling a spectacular energy and such great encouragement to be able to start the new year with the library. For several days away from the books, the memories of the library flooded my mind. I know that we culminated a great year with many achievements; books, laughter, songs, dances, movement, imagination, art and painting that the mobile library gave to us.

I am very grateful to each one of you for making possible all the positive feelings of the mobile library for the children, youth and grandparents of the community of Santiago Atitlan. In every moment of the library last year I captured a happiness inside of me and in other people for each story.

I feel very motivated to start another year because of the happiness that the books transmit. Each accomplishment motivates me to keep believing in the power of reading. I hope it will be a year with more of the joy of the mobile library for the whole community.

Last year I was getting more training with reading books in the Open Books workshop. Each workshop taught me how to use books in a different way, I got the necessary tools to share reading with the community. I am happy to share this experience with other teachers as well as the stories with the children.

Today was the first day of school. The children new to the school received their first little story. I could see coming to life in them a lot of imagination, joy and laughter. At the end of the school day I heard the children say: "Today they told us the story of Splat who goes to school". From all this I realize that it was a great start to school along with spectacular storytelling.
