Ruk’ux Scholarship: Community service

Ruk'ux prepares young students for their academic training, community service is implemented in different organizations, and young people do their volunteer work applying different skills and abilities.

Community service is an activity in which people participate within  organizations where they apply their knowledge and practice their skills and abilities. They adapt themselves to the needs of the organization, thus supporting the staff in different activities inside and outside the organization.

The main activities that are carried out during the time of service include reading implementation, supporting the education of children and youth, as well as the various needs of the organization as they arise..

Reading implementation: this activity entails development of reading in a dynamic, creative and constructive way. This results in better reading comprehension in children. With this activity the volunteers apply their skills to capture children’s attention during reading time.

Learning support: in this activity the volunteer observes the challenges each student faces and looks for different strategies to facilitate student' learning. They also get involved in internal organizational activities such as arranging desks and books, cleaning, and organizing instructional materials.

Community service benefits the volunteer by generating management experiences related to the different activities within the organization, as well as the teaching-learning processes of the students. They work at identifying the specific needs of individual students while seeking ways to get involved inorder to enrich student knowledge.

The challenges our students face include losing their fear of social integration, becoming more involved in professional development, the ability to communicate more easily and to acquire greater knowledge.

With this initiative we are able to form young people capable of creating positive changes for the community!
